Everyone wants to be a good parent, right? You love your kids. You want to be the best mom or dad you can for them. But if you’re like most people, you probably don’t feel prepared for the huge task that is parenting. There’s no ultimate ‘how to’ guide for being a parent. There’s no training, no diploma, no certification that gives you the skills you need before you take the job on.

Luckily parents are also noted for sharing information and experience! Here are some of the best tips to help you feel more fulfilled as a parent and enhance your own parenting experience.

Make your child’s self-esteem a priority

Your child will start to form their self-esteem, the estimation of themselves, right from their earliest days. You are the most important person in their life, and your word is law. Your behavior, your tone, your words shape their reality. You have the big responsibility of being the most important influence on their self-esteem, so choose kind words that show them how much you love them. Above all, let your child know that mistakes are part of what makes us human and have nothing to do with how much you love them or how good a person they are.

Focus on the positives

It’s easy to niggle or focus on your child’s ‘bad’ behavior. It can be harder to remember to catch them being good and to reward good behavior with hugs and praise. Model politeness and say thank you to your child. When you focus on something, you will get more of the same: if you expect your child to behave well, they will respond to that. If you expect naughtiness, they will rise to that expectation. So, choose what sort of behavior you want to encourage and focus on that.

Set clear boundaries

Children need to know where the limits are. They will only learn self-discipline and self-control if you help them. Having consistent, clear boundaries and consequences for breaching those boundaries will help your children learn what’s acceptable and what’s not.

Spend time with your kids

More than anything else, your children want to spend time with you and connect with you. Acting out and misbehaving is often a sign kids are trying to get your attention any way they can, even if it’s negative.

Special quality time is nice, but sharing household tasks, walking the dog, or just watching TV together are all good ways to just be with your kids.

Use a mind map or flow chart to connect ideas and look for creative answers to any questions you are facing. For the mind map, write down the central topic or word then link the related ideas around the center word. This gives you a visual for seeing ideas and how they are linked. The flow chart can be used to track what needs to happen when in a project or event. They can also be used to visualize the final product and what needs to happen to get to that finished product.

Develop your creativity by changing your environment. This can as simple as clearing your desk, painting your walls or moving your furniture. Or you can try taking your laptop to work in a different setting such as a restaurant or park.

Fight your fear of failing. If you fear you will make a huge mistake or fail when you try doing something new, it can keep you paralyzed from being creative. Mistakes are always going to happen. The trick is to not give up and to learn from them.

Get out of your comfort zone and try new things. Do this on a regular basis to develop your creativity. Changing things and doing things outside your comfort zone boosts creativity. Start with something small if you aren’t ready to rock climb a mountain cliff.

Take time to daydream and let your mind wander. Daydreaming leads to creative problem-solving while boosting your creative thinking. As it wanders, your mind accesses memories and emotions as well as those random bits of knowledge you’ve forgotten. Focus on the area you are wanting inspiration in.

Practice is key when it comes to developing your creativity. If you don’t do your activities, regularly, whether they are mental or physical, your creativity fades. There are many ways to develop your creativity. Just find the ones that work for you.

When you approach a problem remember there are multiple solutions. Look for a variety of solutions instead of going with your first one. This helps build problem solving skills and your creative thinking skills.

Start to keep a creativity journal. Use it to keep track of your creative process and any ideas you come up with. Go back and reflect on what you have accomplished. Use it to try to find other solutions to any problems you may have solved already.

Mistake #1 Selling before first demonstrating value

Before you blast your subscribers with offers, you must always give them tons of free value and establish a genuine relationship with them.

As a general rule of thumb, words should always be aligned to the left, indented inside slightly and not have too long a word line. This is to prevent a break in the continuity of your visitor’s reading flow. (From left to right)

Mistake #3 Sounding too formal

Let’s face it, of your pitch sounds too formal, you’ll come off as sounding like a sales robot. For goodness sake, throw in some human factor and speak with a casual tone. No one likes to be hard sold, so if you can connect with your readers in a more informal tone so that they can identify with you, you’ll be more likely to make that sale!

Mistake #4 Wasting your reader’s time

Basically, to write a good copy, you should only be adding things which contribute to the sale and removing things which do not. Your reader’s attention is very precious so if you manage to catch their attention, make it count. Don’t bore them with useless stuff.

Handling objections is an integral skill in good sales copywriting.

Objections

Whenever a person reads a piece of sales copy, many questions would pop up in his mind in attempt to “protect” him from “losing his money”. This is a natural behavior, and if you know how to handle these objections effectively in your copy as they emerge, you will be reaping in massive rewards.

Here’s a couple of commonly used techniques for handling objections:

1) Testimonials

Social proof is something almost everyone looks for when they wish to buy a product. The more convincing and authentic the testimonial seems, the more they will believe the product is good. Try to include testimonials with snapshots of the buyer; video testimonials are even better.

2) FAQS

Having a frequently asked questions section helps greatly in overcoming any objections that appear. Here you can address all the common misconceptions that may sprout up such as how to use the product, who is the product right for and price concerns.

3) Post scripts (P.S)

P.S or Post scripts have been used extensively in sales letters to boost conversions. Before clicking the “Add to cart” button people will usually have a final line of defense which prevents them from making the purchase. If you have a couple of post scripts ready, you can give them that final nudge to make the purchase.

4) Good reasons to buy

A personal favorite of mine, this section gives your readers a couple of good reasons to help them rationalize their purchase and greatly boost your profits.
